Meet the Teacher

First of all, thank you for taking the time to check out my blog! I appreciate you reading my thoughts, and hope you will follow me so we can share insights together!
A little about me...
I graduated from The University of Northern Iowa in December 2012 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and received endorsements in Reading K-8 and English/Language Arts K-8. I student taught in 1st grade, then in 5th grade. I learned so much from both of my placements!
In January 2013, I was fortunate enough to be offered a position as a reading teacher at a middle school. As the reading teacher, I taught 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in small groups who were at least 2 years behind in reading. These students were definitely a challenge, but a pure joy to work with. It was a very rewarding experience, and I'm very thankful for it
However, my heart is in elementary, and when my district started to post elementary positions for the 2013-14 school year, I followed the advice of my colleagues and my gut, and applied for every elementary position. In my district, they do a "bidding" system, so ultimately the teacher with the most seniority gets the position.

I was bummed when I didn't get offered a position after the first round of bids. A week later, I received the best phone call ever from my Human Resource Director telling me I could have my pick of 3 elementary positions, because I was the only internal applicant. Without hesitation, I accepted my dream job: 3rd grade in a building that I love. Not only did I attend 2nd-5th grade at this school, but I also did my first placement for student teaching here. I was fortunate enough to teach some of my firsties from ST in third grade during the 2014-15 school year! I also am very honored to call 2 of my former teachers, and my former principal COLLEAGUES! How lucky am I?! In the summer of 2016, my section of 3rd grade was cut due to low numbers, and I became a 1st grade teacher!

In May 2017, I graduated with my MAE in Elementary Education Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Northern Iowa!
I own my own business, L. Paull Designs for All. You have seen some of my work on Pinterest!
In the little spare time I do have, I like to spend it with my husband, 2 rescue dogs, and my classroom pet...Sonic the Hedgehog!

I started this blog after reading many teacher blogs and thinking that this would be a great way for me to document my teaching and collaborate with all my teacher friends all over!

I hope this blog inspires you, gives you tips, and makes you remember why you went into the greatest profession in the world!
