Manic Monday!

It's Monday... and it's time for:
I had 2 people link up last week! Thanks Brittany and Laura! I hope to have some new people this week! If you feel your Monday just wasn't manic enough, feel free to link up later in the week! :)

I've been telling you that my parent meeting for winter cheerleading is today. Only an hour and a half til it starts! I'm crossing my fingers and toes that everyone shows! (see that rhyme there?) It REALLY helps answer questions and concerns...it is also a requirement! I've noticed I'm a little early to the game on my meeting compared to other coaches, but we always hold our tryouts in the spring, whereas other sports have theirs right before the season...so I'm fine with being on top of things! ;)

I had to make tons of copies for it! Calendars, contact info, sign in sheets, blah blah! TOO MUCH PAPER!

I hope the schedule doesn't change...it is always a pain to make changes to calendars when we create them in March. I only had 2 changes to make for the updated one I'm passing out, which was pretttttty good considering school contracts seem to change all the time.

The kiddos were pretty good today. Mondays are always off because of our change in special time. They're hard at work on their pen pal letters! We're sending them off to Kansas City where a friend of mine teaches 3rd grade, too! They will get them just in time for our Red Ribbon Week Celebration! Is your school doing anything fun for the week? My building has asked several high school clubs and teams to get some high school students to volunteer each day sporting the attire for the day. I'll have 15 cheerleaders next Wednesday helping kiddos get out of their cars, with breakfast, and in classrooms until 9 AM! I know my girl students are gonna LOOOOVE it! The cheerleaders are AWESOME with kids, so it will be fun for all!

We usually have Library Skills on Monday afternoon, but the librarian was gone...so PERFECT time for us to finish our cursive skeletons! Check out this cute things! It was a lot harder to explain to 3rd graders than I thought, but some of them turned out WONDERFUL! Most of them you can't make out their name, but that's okay! They still practiced their cursive skills, had fun, and have awesome pictures to be displayed for conferences and Halloween! :) Check out some examples... (I'll rotate them later) Can you see any names?

Today wasn't too manic...but this week is! Red Ribbon Week starts Wednesday, tomorrow we have bus evacuations, conferences start Thursday, and Friday we have an assembly! Talk about a lot of interruptions! Whew...good thing I have my grades done and I don't have to grade anything RIGHT away! :)

I hope you'll link up below!

Peek at My Week!

I'm linking up with Mrs. Laffin's Laughings!

Monday: We're going to take a break from our science textbooks (YAHOO!) for a couple weeks. I do science twice a week and social studies twice a week. Fridays there are just too many things going on for me to squeeeeeze it in. I had full intentions of doing BOTH every day...but then they came at me with all this stuff I had to do and well, you know the first to get cut... :( It really bums me out!
At any rate, I really like to use the Scholastic News magazines to learn fun tidbits and practice text features so I whipped this up to use for tomorrow!
Take a look at it at my TpT store!

I also have my parent meeting tomorrow night. I hope it goes well and all of my parents and cheerleaders show up!
Have to make notes for myself!

Tuesday: Grades are due...yipee!
Wednesday: Continuing with the break from science books...I'm going to do one of the experiments from this little gem! I'm thinking we will start with the Mouthwatering Melts or mystery M&Ms!
Click here to check it out at The Hands On Teacher in First's store!

Thursday: Conferences. From 4-7, each 15 minutes...no break! Unless of course parents don't show up...which doesn't exactly help, because I won't know until it is too late! :( How do you do conferences in your school?
Friday: PAY DAY! YAHOO! I'm going to go buy pumpkins to decorate over the weekend with my boyfriend. I also need to buy a few things for school, including stuff to make a healthy treat for our Halloween party. Any ideas on some fun, but healthy treats to bring?!

How's your week looking?

I hope your Monday isn't too manic...but if it is...
I hope you'll link up! :-)

New Look!

Happy Saturday!

Notice anything? :-) I've changed my blog layout! Holy moly is it a lot of work! I had to create a new header, social media image and map it, blog button, and make sure everything matched! Wowzers!

I really wanted to use a new Google Web Font, but every time I try to do it, it fails! :( Does anyone know how to do it and could help me out? I'd be so thankful!

Have you grabbed all the freebies from the Facebook Frenzy?! I'm almost done, and these goodies will help with lesson planning for next week!

As I've been doing school things, I've been enjoying...
Halloweentown! :-) This is one of my FAVORITE Halloween movies! It's right up there with Casper and Hocus Pocus! Lucky for me Disney is showing all the Halloweentown movies...I'm watching Kalabar's Revenge as I type! What is your favorite Halloween movie?

Well, I just wanted to see if anyone could help me with my Google Web Fonts dilemma! Please let me know if you can help!

Five for Friday

***blog layout under construction!***

Seriously, where does the time go?
Cheerleading meeting Monday! Ugh...I gotta get on top of my game! This weekend: must finish bows, locker signs, hello cheers, and quarter cheers. Woo!
I got my Thirty-One order! YAYYYYYY! I absolutely LOVE my new pom bag for cheerleading!

I finally did my door for fall at school: "FALL" in love with reading! Each leaf has a picture of a kiddo reading!
I'm preparing for conferences this week and have to fill out these forms for each kiddo. We go over it with parents and have them sign off on it.
My dog is cute...obviously! :-) love snuggling with him! I just wish his daddy was here! I have seen Jason maybe 3 hours in the past 3 days. :( hmph!

Don't forget to link up Monday for...

Have a great weekend!

Manic Monday!

Ughhhh! It was definitely a MANIC Monday! I did have one person link up last week and I was SO pumped! Thanks Brittany! :)

First off, you know that I went out of town this weekend. This was the first weekend since the school year started that I have NOT gone into school. I did like nothing for school this weekend, and although it was a great break, I sure did suffer today!

I can't even say my kiddos were that crazy, I just felt crazy all day long.

My special is at 9 AM on Mondays (school starts at 8:30), so I get nada done in that first half hour. Then during my planing while the kids were in special I had a meeting that took the whole 30 minutes.

Our schedule is messed up on Mondays, so I don't have kids going to title or their SPED teacher, so I had all of them for an hour for Daily 5. Which was great, because I had a chance to meet with each group on their Halloween Reader's Theater scripts I got here! The kids loooove them, and we plan on performing them for our Kinder book buddies on Halloween! SO MUCH FUN!

Anyhoo.... when it came lunch time, I grabbed my lunch from the lounge and headed back upstairs so I could make phone calls! Hmph! I had to call the hotel we stayed at over the weekend because they charged me TWICE for damage hold. So they took $100 from me, even though the hotel was already paid for...and I won't get it back for 3-5 days. Uhm, I have to go to the store sometime, helloooo! I don't get paid until next Friday and I had all sorts of extra bills this month and the checking account is dwindling, fast! I have yet to get a credit card, so it's not like I can charge some groceries or anything.

I also had to call the bank, because my debit card is kaput! The magnetic strip is no longer readable...at all! I use my card for EVERYTHING! I stay so late at school that I haven't even gone to the bank to grab some cash! And I swear cashiers don't know how to manually enter a card number correctly. I've had MULTIPLE problems this past few days. I just give up. The boyfriend will have to buy everything until I get my new card. :)

The afternoon goes pretty quick in my room. We took the STAR Reading test today...saw an overall increase, so that's a plus. I'm anxious to see how Math goes tomorrow. Do you use STAR Enterprise?

Then I read aloud, then we do math (always goes fast). Then I have recess duty and after that the kids have library skills. DAY OVER!

So, I wanted to try not to spend toooooo much time at school this evening because my boyfriend actually has tonight off, so I wanted to spend time with him. I get a text at 4:35 asking if I'm coming to the reading association meeting at the library happening NOW! AHHHHH! I totally had it written down for Thursday, but forgot we changed it, and of course, was not prepared to leave school, but I did in a jiffy. I'm president-elect for our local reading council, so I basically felt obligated to show up. I had to go to the library anyways to drop off some books and get a few for my kiddos. The presentation was over lots of new literature, which is always fun!

So, after that 2 hour meeting... I went back to school, finished laminating spelling lists for the week and left. Which means I have to go in at 6 AM tomorrow to feel even remotely organized for the day (and the week)! UGHHH!

On the plus side...I'm going to eat dinner with Jason and watch The Voice tonight and try to relax.

Not only was it crazy at school, but it was also crazy because I found out that apparently one of my freshman cheerleaders moved districts. I have also discovered another cheerleader on a different squad has to sit out 50% of this season, and I have to have tryouts for that squad because I'm down to 3. Also, need to figure out something with another squad, because I found out a few weeks ago, a girl moved to California. I have my parent next Monday...practice starts the first Monday in November. It's coming so fast and I'm like nowhere close to being prepared.

If I don't blog very much from November-February, it is because I will be at school until 4, and at cheerleading practice or a game until 9 EVERY night. Seriously...why do I always think I can put 58,731,039 things on my plate?

Is it Thanksgiving yet?!?!?!

Well, I hope your Monday wasn't too manic...but if it was (or wasn't) I'd love for you to link up! Feel free to link up later on in the week, too! I know you all don't link up for Currently on the first of the month, or always get to Five for Fridays ON Fridays! :)

P.S. If you're interested, my TpT store is 20% off through tomorrow! :)

Weekend Bliss

I'm literally typing this post from the car as my boyfriend drives us back to Iowa. I drove the whole way up, so it is only fair, right? :)

If you saw my posts earlier this week, you know that this weekend was all about me! :D
Every weekend since school has started, I've been doing lesson plans and just lounging around trying to revamp for the week. This weekend my boyfriend and I drove the 4 1/2 hours to Milwaukee, WI so I could see my favorite band, Hanson! :)

Last summer, Jason took me to Des Moines to see Hanson, but it just wasn't up to my standards. Don't get me wrong, it was great, but it was a music festival, so they played a short set, and I was the farthest back I've ever been at a Hanson concert. It just wasn't the same as screaming and dancing with my fellow Fansons in an intimate venue like House of Blues: Chicago. Jason knew I was rather disappointed, so he promised to take me to another concert when they went on tour again. This past spring, they announced their Anthem World Tour and I was PUMPED! Of course, HOB dates were on a Sunday and Monday in October. Chicago is also a 4 1/2 hour car ride, so those dates would not work with school. I always wanted to go to a show in Milwaukee to hear the infamous Man from Milwaukee from their 1st album, Middle of Nowhere, and I was not let down, because that was the finale last night! :)

I could go on and on about how much I love Hanson and why. Of course my love started in 1997 with the release of Middle of Nowhere. As the 90s continued, I stayed with Hanson, but also found love with a band called Nsync, and Hanson started to leave my radar. In 2004, they released their 1st independent record on their own label called Underneath, and my love was resparked. However, I still didn't attempt to go see them live. (stupid me) In 2007, they released their 4th album and I finally saw them for the first time in March of 2008.

Hanson has grown up to be amazing human beings. They do so much charitable work and actually started my obsession with TOMS Shoes in 2008. On most tours since 2007, they have done 1 mile barefoot walks near the venue to raise awareness for 3rd world countries. They donate a dollar to a cause of your choice (medicine, education, water, or shoes) for each person who walks.  In 2008, I participated in my 1st of 4 walks, where I talked to all 3 of them, took a picture with Isaac, and Taylor signed one of my TOMS. As I had real conversations with all 3 of them about their music and how they had grown as artists, I was amazed. They are such down to earth, genuinely nice people.

Okay, I really need to stop talking because you probably could care less! HA! Well, here are some pictures from my  phone! I was disappointed that Taylor was not at the walk, because he's my favorite, but he was in Colorado the night before at a beer festival promoting their new beer to celebrate their 21st anniversary as a band. He must have needed to take a nap or something!

Remember to stop by tomorrow to see my Manic Monday post and to link up with this new weekly linky!

Five for Friday!

Oh my gosh, the week just flies by! I feel like I just did a Five for Friday post!

I picked up my Halloween costume on Monday! Do you know who I'm dressing up as?
The kiddos just DIED of laughter from this book! One of the best renditions of the three little pigs!

I used 2 of my 6 graphic organizers for some review with our basal this story this week. Man! I'm going to have to use these bad boys every week because it really did help them with the story! I didn't realize how beneficial they would be! :)
You can check out the set here!
We did some partner work in math today. A few pictures below...seriously love these kids and I am SO proud of how well they worked with their partner and the learning/teaching that was going on!

My boyfriend texted me tonight while he was at work at Kohl's to let me know Curious George books were $2.50. They're the summer Kohl's Cares books, so they are now half off...but still go to a good cause! :)

I cannot wait for this weekend!

I'm off to Milwaukee tomorrow with my boyfriend to see these three spiffy men! :-) HANSON!

Be looking for Monday's post to link up for Manic Monday! I'm sure Monday will be more manic than usual because I'm going to be out of town for most of the weekend!

Have a great weekend!
