DIYs, Classroom Library Labels, August Currently

Hello all!

I wanted to start off today by showing what I worked on yesterday. I got this idea from an awesome professor of mine at UNI {LOVED MRS. ENSWORTH!} It's for anecdotal records and I really love it! I used it for conferencing with my firsties in student teaching, and really liked the way it worked out.

To start off you need some type of cardboard. I actually used the cheapo dry-erase calendars from Dollar Tree because I like the size and that it has magnets on it already. I covered them in cutesy duct tape {sorry I don't have a pre-duct tape picture}

Next, I taped 11 rows of 3 of index cards, making sure to have each row show about a quarter of an inch away from the one above/below, so I can number them {and add names later}. This process does take awhile, but I think it's worth it.

The end result is something you can take with you wherever. The best thing about it is that you can quickly flip to any student and look at your notes. AND it comes in handy when preparing for conferences because you can just rip off the card, add it to the student's file, and bam! easy notes to discuss progress with parents!
You may have a better system, but I like this! I made one for Reading, Math, and Behavior.

I also finished all of my numbers for my cookie sheet attendance, but haven't printed out my "where are you" labels. I'm also thinking about a way to make my cookie sheet a little cutesier.

I created some Classroom Library Labels today! Woo, I really like them and can't wait to sort through my books this week at school and use them!

Grab them from my store for just $1!
Finally, I'm linking up with Oh' Boy Fourth Grade for her August Currently!

Listening: Yes, I'm referring to Hanson, as in Summer of '97 hit MMMBop. I could go on and on about them, but they are seriously my favorite band and have been since I was 6. My boyfriend is taking me to see them for the 6th time in October! Woo! They released a new album, Anthem, this summer, so check it out!

Loving: I've been out of town the past couple of weekends, so being home was awesome! I got lots of things done, but I also vegged a lot too, oopsies!

Thinking: I'm taking a class tomorrow and Tuesday from 8am to 5pm, and let's just say my sleep schedule isn't in school mode right now!

Wanting: I can get into my classroom tomorrow! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! :D

Needing: I give you exhibit A.

Back2School Must Haves:  1. I need to get myself a new planner! WOO! Perhaps...chevron?!?! 2. I need more binders! Binders are so expensive in the middle of the year, so I need to stock up now. 3. I need more containers to keep me organized. I also want a plastic 5 drawer container for my lessons.

Well, I hope you had a great weekend! Take a look at the left, see the Blog Lovin' button and the Google Connect button?! You should click those to stay up to date with my posts! I'd appreciate it! And hey, if you're feeling really nice, you could check out my Teachers Pay Teachers store and follow me! Lots of freebies there!

  2. Found your blog via Farley's link up! I LOVE the anecdotal note-taking idea! I think I might put it on a clipboard because I'm between different classrooms a lot- have you seen that set up? Is it effective?

    1. Hi Melissa! I haven't seen that used, but that doesn't mean it wouldn't work! Actually, I've only seen my college professor use it! She had lots of years in the classroom and was so helpful! Let me know if you try it out and how it works out for you!
